
Senior Artist
UK Remote or West Midlands Based – Birmingham/Worcestershire Area

Role and Purpose:
We are seeking a Senior Artist to become a member of our team and assist in determining and directing the artistic standards and needs for our ongoing projects. You’ll be an enthusiastic and self-motivated team member who has a passion for 3D art and making excellent game content. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, solid work ethic and a positive, friendly attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and help lead the art team in creating complex and captivating game art, such as environments and props that are both organic and hard-surfaced.
- Communicate and collaborate with the Head of Art and the Design and Art teams to establish and uphold the quality bar of the game’s artwork, ensuring a consistent and cohesive visual identity.
- Help manage the day-to-day progress of the team and ensure compliance with project specific update/feedback/production processes.
- Helping to identify further development for the pipelines and processes for art creation across projects to ensure efficient development is possible and performant.
- Working with the Production team to support the planning of the art requirements of our games, with a focus on 3D art, so that we have a realistic view of what’s required and a plan to deliver it across the game’s development.
- Lead by example, keeping an enthusiastic attitude for the project whilst motivating and supporting a diverse team of artists.
- Participate in staff interviews, onboarding, mentorship programs and performance reviews, fostering skill development and artistic growth.
- 3D asset creation from modelling to texturing to materials.
- Optimisation, technical, pipeline and efficiency tasks.
Requirements:
- Experienced with the art production pipeline for Unreal Engine content.
- Professional experience in a senior artistic role for video games, with a proven track record of creating high-quality and engaging 3D artwork.
- A team player with effective communication skills who is passionate about collaborating with design to create the best game in terms of art and gameplay.
- High level of understanding of game art content creation including the full modelling, texturing, material, and lighting authoring process.
- Fast and efficient 3D modeller. Proficient in relevant industry-standard software such as Maya, Photoshop, Substance, ZBrush or equivalents.
- A creative eye and care for art direction in your own work and the work of your team.
- Understanding of art fundamentals, including composition, colour theory, form and structure, and lighting, to create compelling artwork.
- Manage your time effectively, be able to delegate and prioritise based on project need.
- Establish technical guidelines for the creation of assets.
- A passion for gaming and a commitment to delivering visually stunning and captivating gaming experiences.
Desirable Skills:
- Shipped at least one title in a Senior position, within a relevant game art production pipeline.
- Solid 2D art skills, including the ability to create concept art and paint-overs to guide development.
- Skills in any adjacent areas such as Niagara, Blueprint, Concept Art, Character Art, Animation, Level Design etc.
